Call me an dunce or whatever you like, but in my opinion Microsoft Client Access Licenses (CALs) are still far too complicated to understand in mixed SBS and Windows Server environments.
SBS CALs are NOT Windows CALs and vice versa. OK, I get that, but do you want extras?That’ll require the SBS premium CALs. Want to use Remote Desktop Host (Terminal Services), that will require RDS CALs too and the list goes on and on!
Come on Microsoft. There has to be a better way than this. Even your licensing specialists had to check “with several colleagues” to make sure we quoted correctly for a new customer to be properly licensed in their new branch office network. If your own specialists don’t get it, how on earth are us mere mortals supposed to?
